Spatial Disorientation with Dr. Amir Kheradmand, M.D.
I have been experiencing minor headache in head movements after treated from bppv horizontal canal. I don't have any idea if this is common or I have to do more maneuver to fix this. Please help me in this.
I started getting vertigo a week ago, it seemed manageable until 3 days ago when it became debilitating. A week earlier an older woman told me she had the crystals and the Dr gave her exercises. Her words came back so I researched all thing vertigo. Your video's seemed the best so tried the epley maneuver, no change, tried the log roll next and it got so bad I was afraid to move. Now fearful to try any more I kept getting the nudge to keep looking. I found this one called Gufoni and when I sat up I knew I was much better. Not 100% but as the video says I will repeat it. Thank you for your work in giving us this information. It takes a heart dedicated to helping others to do all of this and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Thanks so much for your help.. Really appreciated.
I deal with this periodically and had to revisit RUclips for a refresher on how to do this maneuver. It does work! This is the second time it’s helped me.
Thank you for such a thorough and easy to follow video! Who knew I could do this at home??? This has been a life-saver; I'm out of town, no local doctors have appointments available for weeks, and I needed immediate help. I've had positional vertigo before, so knew what I had and which side, but have previously been dependent on seeing the doctor to fix it. Certainly, if I needed a doctor, I'd go to one. In this case, this was all I needed.
this is the doctor who can't see me until 2026. and is not scheduling any appointments whatever at this time, mid-20224.
Did I need to keep my eyes open while doing these maneuver? Actually it feels comfortable with closed eyes when vertigo/dizziness sets in..
Thank you Dr. Tate; you have given me so much hope. These videos are Life Changing!
It would be helpful to record the video testing for which side triggers vertigo first, then follow by the maneuver.
This is a great video and so thankful for it. This is my 3rd experience with vertigo in the past year including one 3 months ago. I noticed whem looking back on texts i sent my husband that it started out with diarrhea the night before. Have any of you experienced that? Does that indicate a viral or bacterial infection as the possible cause of vertigo?
Thank you!!!-❤
Last year I had my crystals reset at the hospital. I had a spell 2 days which lingered. I used your tutorial and it works. Thank you so much!
Thank you Dr. Tolman. I'm hoping this has been the reason for my vertigo, but either way, this Epley Maneuver video has got to be the best one out there. Very well done!
Thanks again! Vertigo has gone with just the one Epley Maneuver. Life is back to normal!
Thank you for explaining this is such depth and so clearly. This helps me to show other's what I'm experiencing, not just a small bout of "motion sickness". Your Epley maneuver video also gave me the solution to dealing with this - although it's quite a traumatic thing to do - it's very helpful. The secret to success with the maneuver is to do it slowly and thoroughly - be patient. Sometimes I can feel the crystals fall into place eventually. Along with plenty of rest, clean eating and TCM and homeopathic remedies, this speeds up the healing. Thank you again for your expertise and clarity. After many bouts of this you brought incredible relief.
Thanks for sharing am grateful
❤ I am amazed at how easy this was to follow. I decided to try this after being unable to find an ENT or any medical professional until 3 weeks out. It only took me 3 x of doing the maneuver to fix my left ear vertigo. It was clear the first time I did it, which ear was the problem. Thank you for being so helpful!!!
Thank you so much for this great explanation and resource. So helpful!
This video shows the epley maneuver ONLY for the right ear.
It exactly opposite for left side
I tried this at the doctors office yesterday. We did it 1 time successfully but I felt sick afterwards. The next 2 times I vomited and was not able to complete it. Now I have to do it at home alone and I’m terrified. That was the worst feeling ever for me. I was dizzy and vomiting the rest of the day after my appt.
I saw my doctor this morning for mild dizziness. My doctor diagnosed it as BBPV. She did a movement test and got my eyes to move. She prescribed meclizine. I’m seeing a physical therapist tomorrow to learn exercises to help with treatments. Great video! Thanks!
VERY helpful. Thank you.
How wonderful. How can I try this?
suffering for a week and diagnosed two days ago and given the Epley home exercise sheet and nothing seemed to happen so I found this video and I'm so glad I did. I had a hard time doing it on my own so my husband was helping with timing the moves. at first when she says to turn 90° to the left I did it wrong and put my head right down to the mattress. And I realize that she meant 90° from the other 45 or 45° left of centre. I had a hard time with the tucking too - I wasn't sure if my head was supposed to be off the bed. then I forgot and lied down a little later and got really dizzy. when I tried it again today first time I was not spinning crazily. i'm not sure how I got this but I'm afraid it's related to fluid in my ears. I was also doing computer work the day it happened so I'm going to have the chiropractor check out my neck. good luck viewers. it's a scary syndrome
Super...i did it and i think it works...i think that i am feeling better ...
Still the BEST video on the Epley Method! Very well explained and demonstrated. Thank you!!
Thank you very much it really helped
So, first of all, I haven’t tried the maneuver yet, but I’m excited to go home and try it. Secondly, and more profoundly, I really wish everyone, *and I mean everyone* who gives advice about on RUclips (on just about anything!) would watch this video. “Why?”, I hear you ask. How many times have you needed to figure out how to do something? You go to RUclips to find a video about how to do it, and that task that requires 15 seconds is buried in a 10 minute video. Dr Tolman just goes right to the point. She shows you how to do it, and then gives you the additional information afterwards. RUclipsrs: *show us how to do the task first.* Then give us all the details later. Thank you Doctor!!
Best explanation so far on the maneuver, in a way that one can understand the reason behind the positions and times, thanks!
@balancing act resources I have lots of trouble with screens of all kinds, the bigger the brighter the worse. They seem to be a trigger for VMs that last more than a week many times. I can’t work because everything requires computer work. I am wondering about purchasing a “gaming”monitor. They have options to increase the rate of refresh which helps to reduce that “undetectable” flicker. Any thoughts? When I was younger (I’m 58) I usd to get period migraines and they were made worse by fluorescent lights. Thanks
After one attempt, and one finished, I threw up! Keep a bag near by! I feel LOTS better today, so I am now going to attempt to do another..😬
omg thank you! finally something that worked!
Dr. Lisa Farrell's ability to convey information about vestibular rehabilitation, exercise and mindfulness in a welcoming manner have been really helpful to me and those I work with. Her online trainings and 6 week mindfulness course improved my ability to work effectively in the clinic. Thanks for the great dialogue.
Thanks!
Love your podcast sooo much!! I learn a whole lot from It, and just starting an advanced vestibular course so this a great way to get into buisness.
Just found your channel Best one on RUclips for clear & thorough explanations and help TY ❤
I came down with this and tinitus after a severe allergic reaction to the covid vaccine
Thank you for this easy explanation. Vertigo was really bad yesterday i thought itwould take more than one try but I was so happy that the vertigo went straight away although the spinning whilst I was doing it was worrying. Im so happy as it was affecting daily living. Thanks again
Why can’t you help people in Utah
What is the reason for the crystals to get out where they belong
Thank you very much
I don't get dizzy when I lie down, but get very dizzy when I sit up. Does that mean that my symptoms are not vertigo? When I tried Brandt Deroff I never felt dizzy lying down, but every time I came up it was less pleasant, particularly when my left ear was uppermost.
I haven’t tried this yet. I’m glad it’s working for people but honestly I don’t know how anyone can do this when they have vertigo. I can’t get up of the floor when I have it. Everything is spinning. If I tried this I’d be vomiting
How do you know to do left ear or right?
i did an epley on the wrong side, how do i fix that?do i just do another epley correctly? Thank you for your time
This made me so ill, but I get it had to be done. Luckily my pt is still working through it. , what I would like to know is how did they get there in the first place.
I had extreme nausea and vomiting throughout both pregnancies. It became a bit better around 20 weeks each time. But I had to take Doxylamine Succinate and B6 the entire pregnancies or else it came back. I often have mild versions of these systems during and after my ovulation window along with increased vestibular systems.
It’s been a year and a half since my vestibular migraine began. So many other health conditions presented themselves and it’s totally changed my life. I had panic attacks beginning a year before the vestibular and vertigo issues began. Anxiety usually surrounds the fear of falling. Lately, I’ve been experiencing depressive thoughts. Not sure if it’s because it’s been a year and a half with pain in the back of my head, neck, and shoulder and also nerve pain on the right side of my body or if it’s from the medication I’m on. My PCP told me I have to prioritize what I want to focus on. She felt that my nerve pain is secondary and I should focus on controlling my diabetes. My vestibular migraine wasn’t even on the table! It’s like , I just have to manage it on my own. I’m so tired.
Please read Hope and help for your nerves by clare weekes It is the only self help method I have ever seen help patients cure yes..cure panic attacks
This is not the life I wanted for myself. Is there anything that can be done for recurrent BPPV? My physical therapist just says he sees some of the same patients for years… I’m not ok with that. I’m tired of this being my life.
Stay hydrated, use the epely or half summersalt maneuver I came down with this about 6 months ago and every couple weeks I do these things to fix it at home. The key is to catch it early so you can fix it at home
I have a question, the dizziness happens when I lay down on my back when the back of my head touches the pillow. It doesn't happen on either side. Are there other positions that can help?
I’m mostly dizzy now when I sit up. Thanks so much.
